Tips
Nutrition, care, behavior, and overall health care for your pet.
Below are answers to the questions we most often receive by phone. They do not replace an exam, but they help you know what to prepare and when it is time to call us.

Sometimes it is important to simply get the right advice at the right moment, because some problems can be solved without coming to the clinic.
Ten frequently asked questions
When should a puppy be vaccinated?
We arrange the first vaccination and the further schedule during an exam, based on the puppy's age and health status and on whether it has already received a vaccine. We write the date of the next dose into the health booklet so the schedule is never lost.
How do I protect my dog from fleas and ticks?
Protection from fleas and ticks is part of routine preventive care. We choose the product according to the species, age, and weight of the pet, because the products for dogs and cats differ. If you have already used a product, tell us which one — that changes our recommendation.
What is heartworm and how do I protect against it?
Heartworm is a parasite transmitted by mosquito bites, so protection is carried out during mosquito season. We plan heartworm prevention together with vaccination and intestinal parasite protection during an exam.
How do I clean my dog's teeth?
Preventive care includes using different products that reduce the formation of soft plaque on teeth and therefore tartar. Regular maintenance at home postpones the need for intervention, but does not replace the removal of already-formed tartar.
Why is tartar removed under anesthesia?
To remove tartar completely, it is necessary to clean the areas below the gum line and any pockets that have formed. This is a very painful procedure and the pet would not allow it without anesthesia. Intubation also prevents the pet from inhaling the aerosol created by the ultrasonic scaler.
How do I prepare my dog for an X-ray?
For X-ray imaging, pets must be absolutely still, so some examinations cannot be done without sedation and sometimes anesthesia. If sedation is planned, we will tell you what to prepare when you book.
What should I do before blood is drawn for tests?
Fasting is mandatory when blood is drawn for biochemistry and other tests, or when the pet is put under anesthesia. Water remains available. When you book, we will guide you on everything needed before the test.
When should I call the vet as an emergency?
If you believe it is an emergency and immediate help is needed, call us by phone. Do not send SMS or messages via Viber — we may not hear them, especially at night. For emergencies, no appointment is needed.
How should I bring a cat to the clinic?
Please bring cats in a carrier (never in your arms or in open bags) and contact us as soon as you arrive if there are dogs or other cats in the waiting room. We will do our best to seat you separately, as far as the conditions allow.
Is spaying/neutering recommended?
Spaying and neutering are standard procedures we perform. Whether and when they are appropriate for your pet depends on the species, age, and health status, so we make that decision together after an exam.
Did not find the answer to your question?
Please contact us whenever you think it is necessary, and we will determine together whether you need to come in for an exam, a check-up, or another procedure.
